CINCINNATI — The New York Jets have adamantly said they aren’t handing Ahmad Gardner a starting cornerback job, but comments from head coach Robert Saleh make it seem like a foregone conclusion. Saleh praised the rookie in recent comments.
“The kid can do it all,” Saleh said to the New York Post. “We won’t put him in a position where we know he won’t succeed. That’s a promise. But there’s not much of that in his game.”
The No. 4 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft made plenty of splash plays throughout the Jets’ off-season program and intercepted starting quarterback Zach Wilson multiple times throughout the workouts. The rookie isn’t cutting himself any slack throughout this process though.
